Halfway between Balykchy and Cholpon-Ata on the northern shore of Yssyk-Köl Lake, Tamchy Village is an excellent destination for the travelers looking to relax on a beach. Though tourist options, from homestays to towering international hotels, are appearing all along the north shore of Yssyk-Köl as alternatives to the run down sanatoria decrepitude, the tiny village of Tamchy is right on the water. You can get there by shared taxi or minibus from the Western (“new”, ”Zapadny avtovokzal” in Russian) bus terminal in Bishkek (219km), Karakol (180km) or Balykchy (45km).
